Contribute to transforming the future of health in this Senior Analyst role Provide support in a vital programme of work in the Planning, Funding and Outcome spacePermanent, full-time role based in AucklandHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is committed to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders.About the RoleIn this role of Senior Analyst, you will be able to contribute to transforming the future of health by working with the extraction, collation and distribution of data, insights, and information across Health New Zealand.You will be responsible for using best practice methodologies to provide consistent and high-quality analytics, advice, oversight, and direction within the Hospital & Specialist Services and wider stakeholders, including Parliament, the Ministry of Health and the media.In this role, you will assist with the development and delivery of a reporting, monitoring and analysis programme focused on system flow and the wider organisation.
You will also be involved with the production of responses to OIAs, parliamentary questions, media enquiries and other information requests in relation to your area of responsibility.About the Team/Service/ LocationOur Auckland - Te Toka Tumai Health Analytics team is one of four such teams across the Northern region, working together as part of a wider regional team, and national team.We provide health analytics and insights which support planning and delivery of better, more equitable health services at a district and regional level.Through data analysis, we inform evidence-based decision-making, identify areas for improvement, enhance overall efficiency in the health system and provide accountability reporting to the public.Our primary objectives are contributing to more equitable and accessible health services, more efficient resource allocation and improved health outcomes.We are located centrally in Grafton, Auckland.About youWith a background in data and analytics, you will have been responsible for delivering high-quality, evidence-based, forward-focused insights using best practice approaches and methods.
You will be committed to developing your analytical skills and working within a broader team to produce, present and interpret data sets that support decision-makers. You will actively support and mentor other team members, sharing your knowledge to help build capability across the team.You will have working knowledge of national collections health data, and understand the ever-changing nature of operational data sets.Ideally, you will have strong experience in presenting data, data extraction, data transformation, measures design and development and business intelligence tools such as SQL, Power BI, or Snowflake. Additionally, reasonable experience with Qlik Sense or R would be beneficial.You will have:A relevant graduate qualification, or equivalent professional experienceKnowledge of health service datasets, especially national collectionsAdvanced analytical capabilitiesSignificant experience in data extraction and reportingDemonstrated skills and experience with analytical software toolsStrong experience with Power BI is desiredExperience mentoring/coaching othersWorking at Health New ZealandHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand.
