We work closely with Older Persons Health inpatient and communitygeriatric services, Adult Specialist Mental Health, primary care, and a widerange of community providers.Our service includes:Two purpose-built inpatient wards at Burwood HospitalA mental health day hospitalA memory assessment clinicA large community mental health teamAn old age psychiatry consult liaison teamYou will join a dedicated service where ten psychiatristslead interdisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, patient-focused care.Mō te tūnga | About the roleWe are seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist with experienceand passion for Older Persons Mental Health to join our team in Christchurch.Permanent, part-time or full-time (up to 1.0FTE by negotiation)Provide psychiatric assessment, consultation, and ongoing treatmentContribute clinical leadership within an interdisciplinary teamSupport bicultural service delivery in line with Te Tiriti o WaitangiSupervise and mentor medical staff, registrars, and traineesContribute to service development, research, and quality improvementYou will also undertake responsibilities under the MentalHealth (Compulsory Assessment and Treatment) Act 1992, and work within asupportive peer-review and professional development framework.Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills & experienceEssential:Vocational registration (or eligibility) with the Medical Council of New Zealand as a PsychiatristFRANZCP or an equivalent specialist qualification recognised by RANZCPSub-specialty qualification in Psychiatry of Old Age or extensive experience in this fieldRecent experience at SMO level managing psychiatric patientsDesirable:Strong supervision, teaching, and mentoring skillsAbility to balance a complex clinical workloadExcellent communication and teamwork skillsCommitment to bicultural practice and culturally safe careAbout Christchurch | Living in ŌtautahiChristchurch is a vibrant, family-friendly citywith something for everyone.
