We are seeking a Consultant Child Psychiatrist to join our Child Health service at Christchurch Hospital. This is a unique opportunity to provide psychiatric expertise in a holistic paediatric environment, working alongside a committed multidisciplinary team to improve outcomes for tamariki and their whanau.

About the Role
As a Child Psychiatrist in the Paediatric Consult Liaison Service - Child Health, you will provide psychiatric assessment and intervention for children and adolescents who are patients of the Paediatric Medical Service. You will:
- Deliver high-quality clinical assessments, and treatment for inpatients and outpatients.
- Provide consultation, advice and case discussion with Paediatricians and the wider Child Health team
- Facilitate joint outpatient reviews with paediatric colleagues for children with developmental or psychiatric co-morbidities.
- Provide supervision and leadership to members of the Paediatric Consult Liaison team
- Contribute to training and education for Child Health staff, supporting earlier recognition and intervention for psychosocial concerns.
- Play an active role in service development, clinical guideline design, and quality improvement initiatives.
About the Team/Service/Location
Our Child Health service provides integrated medical, psychological, and allied health care for tamariki and rangatahi across Canterbury. You will be part of a dynamic and supportive multidisciplinary team of Paediatricians, Psychologists, Nurses, and Allied Health staff who work closely with CAF and community services to provide holistic, family-centred care.
About you
As a Consultant Child Psychiatrist, you will bring:
- Vocational registration in Child Psychiatry with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
- Fellowship or affiliation with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP).
- Proven experience working with children, young people, and families in child psychiatry, ideally including paediatric consult liaison settings.
- A strong understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application in health care.
- Excellent leadership, teaching, and communication skills with the ability to work across multidisciplinary and cross-cultural settings.
