Our client is a first-generation civil contractor delivering trusted drainage and earthworks services across Canterbury. With a strong local reputation, new project wins, and a team hungry for growth, they are looking for an Operations Manager to take the reins of daily delivery and drive continuous improvement.
This is a key leadership role, reporting directly to the General Manager, where you'll help shape the future of the business while supporting the people on the ground.
What You'll Be Doing
As Operations Manager, you'll be responsible for:
Operational Leadership- Oversee the daily performance of project teams across civil, residential, and commercial sites and assist with resource allocation
- Ensure consistent delivery on time, on budget, and to quality standards
- Support site supervisors and project managers with planning, coordination, and problem-solving
- Lead and support a tight-knit team of supervisors, admin staff and project managers, with direct influence over the day-to-day and long-term direction of operations.
- Identify training and development opportunities for team growth.
- Collaborate with the Senior Leadership team to implement business improvement initiatives.
- Support the Finance Manager with budgeting, commercial reporting, and system development for scale.
- Assist with client engagement and positioning for future project wins.
What They Offer
A Competitive Salary Range between $125,000 - $140,000 (dependent upon experience and proven ability) + car and phone.

What You Bring- Proven leadership in civil construction (ideally drainage or earthworks but not essential).
- Able to connect site operations with business strategy: scheduling, budgeting, people management, and process improvement.
- Calm under pressure and solutions-focused.
- Clear communicator with a coaching mindset.
- NZ Driver's Licence and full working rights in NZ.
- A clean criminal record.
