A Chef position has become available in the pipi cafe kitchen (Pipi Developments Ltd) in Havelock North.
POSITION: Chef de partie
Days of work- Pipi is open Tuesday
- Sunday 4pm-10pm and the chef de partie shift generally goes from 2pm
- 10:30/11:00pm
chef de parties will work 4-6 of these days (including weekends) on a rotating schedule for a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours per week. Pay rate is from $28 - $31ph depending on skills and experience.

We enjoy ourselves and work hard, and are in a position now where we need to build the team up.
We are looking for capable chefs with a minimum of 3 years experience .
You will need to be available to work evenings, weekends and public holidays.
Below is a fairly standard chef de partie job description, which is pretty much the minimum you will be doing here at Pipi. In addition there will be times when you are required to run the whole kitchen.

Job description- Monitoring quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and cooking (pan meals, handling ovens, pizza rolling and topping), and discussing food preparation issues with managers.
- Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen department.
- Demonstrating techniques and advising on cooking procedures to junior staff.
- Preparing, cooking, and maintain standards for all types of food.
- Supervising/training junior team members.
- Helping managers to plan menu and to estimate labour costs and ordering food supplies.
Qualifications/Skills:
- a minimum of 3 years relevant experience as a Chef in a commercial kitchen.
- Strong understanding of cooking techniques, particularly in dough, deserts and general kitchen operations.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Knowledge of New Zealand food safety and hygiene standards.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills, including working with people from a range of cultures and backgrounds.
- Willingness to take direction and continuously improve culinary skills.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 20kg (flour bags) if necessary.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required.
