Moo Moo Smokehouse is a busy, fast-growing BBQ restaurant located in Takapuna, specialising in authentic low-and-slow smoked meats, premium steaks, and American-style BBQ. We are looking for an experienced and motivated Sous Chef to join our kitchen leadership team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a high-volume service environment and wants to grow with a strong, expanding hospitality brand.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations
Lead the team during service and ensure smooth execution
Maintain high food quality and presentation standards
Oversee prep, stock control and ordering
Ensure food safety and compliance with NZ regulations
Train and mentor junior kitchen staff
Help manage food cost and minimise wastage
What We’re Looking For:
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role
Strong leadership and communication skills
Experience in BBQ, grill, or smokehouse cooking (advantageous)
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Excellent knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
Reliable, punctual, and professional attitude
