About the Role Are you looking for a team that is supportive and a joy to work with?We currently have a vacancy for a motivated Occupational Therapist to join our multi-disciplinary team. As we are an acute service, you will be working with a diverse group of patients requiring various levels of support.
Essential skills required are the ability to problem solve and maintain composure in a busy environment and maintain a positive attitude. We welcome people that have a patient/ Whanau centred approach in their work and a good understanding of health inequalities for Maori and pacific people.
To further support staff with their development we are supportive of ongoing training and professional development for all staff.About the Team/Service Te Whare Ahuru provides services for people experiencing an episode of acute mental illness that requires a safe environment with intensive nursing and medical treatment.The team offers specialist services for people with moderate to severe mental health problems, and offer assessment, treatment and support to assist the individual and their whanau and other support people in their recovery journey with the aim of supporting people back to having their health care provided in primary health care services.
The focus of the service is on providing evidenced based treatment interventions for those people who present with more complex needs and higher risks.The multi-disciplinary team consists of Psychiatrists, registrars, house surgeons, occupational therapists, social workers, nurses and mental health support workers.About you Applicants should have:Essential QualificationsDegree or equivalent occupational therapy qualificationOTNZ registered Clinical placements and or clinical experience applicable to the roleEssential ExperienceInterest in the relevant Mental health areaMental health OT clinical experienceKnowledge of MOHOST assessmentsUnderstanding of the needs of the particular clients within settingWorking at Health New Zealand Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is 'the weaving of wellness'.
