The Role
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Chef (3x) who understands authentic Sri Lankan and South Indian cooking styles, spice blends, and traditional techniques.
Position:- Chef 3xLocation:- Panmure, Auckland
Employment Type: Full-Time
Pay Rate :- $24 per hour (Can negotiate based on experience and knowledge)Working Hours:- Minimum 30 hours per week (Weekend Availability is a must for this role).
You Key Responsibilities will be but not limited to:
- Plan and organise food preparation and cooking activities.
- Design menus, manage kitchen budget, including food cost, labour cost, and equipment maintenance.
- Innovate seasonal or modern fusion dishes that appeal to diverse palates while preserving cultural authenticity.
- Prepare and cook Sri Lankan and South Indian inspired dishes to the highest standards.
- Train and guide kitchen staff and junior chef.
- Ensure customer satisfaction through food quality and presentation.
- Ensure kitchen cleanliness and food safety standards meet or exceed local health regulations.
- Implement proper food handling, storage, and sanitation procedures.
- Conduct regular training and inspections to maintain a safe working environment.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Minimum 2 yr of commercial kitchen experience.
- Understanding of food preparation to perfection and presented in an appealing way.
- Good verbal communication skills.
- Good understanding of culinary trends and kitchen operations.
We are excited to expand our passionate team and are now looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Duty Manager to join The Walawwa Auckland.
Position:- Duty Manager 2xHours of Work:- 30 Hours Per Week (Must have the availability during the weekends and late evenings depending on the work commitments).

Your Duties would be included but not limited to:-- Be responsible for the overall restaurant operations.
- Take responsibility for daily/weekly procedures including ordering, receiving and stock take.
- Be a key person to be involved in the budgeting for the restaurant.
- Planning is the key for the restaurant so you must be confident in making all types of sales & operations planning for the restaurant.
- Managing KPIs – customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, food cost percentage, labor cost percentage, customer wait times, order accuracy, sales and financial performance.
- Be the first point of contact for all the suppliers and vendors & third parties.
- Promoting & advertising the restaurant products & services.
- Arranging the purchasing and pricing of goods according to budget.
- Maintaining records of stock levels and financial transactions.
- Make sure quality of food being served and waiting times exceed expectation.
- Ensure the environment within the restaurant is always top notch.
- Lead your team, provide feedback and set a high example by always operating above the line.
- Hire, train and supervise staff.
- Be responsible for the kitchen operations and look after the kitchen team.
- Ensure that safety protocols in restaurant are in place (CCTV, Alarms) and working properly.
- Make sure that the liquor licensing regulations are followed in the restaurant.
- Must ensure that the restaurant does comply with health regulations and are clean, functional and of suitable appearance.
- Have at least 1 year of work experience or a qualification at level 4 or higher shall be accepted if you have no work experience.
- Flexible availability to work various shifts, including days, late evenings and weekends and public holidays.
- You should be friendly, patient and helpful.
- Good communication.
- The ability to multi-task.
- Knowledge of health, safety and food hygiene regulations and procedures.
- Perform shift operations.
- An ability to work under pressure and deal with challenging situations.
- A Current LCQ Certificate & Duty Managers Certificate even, if you don't have we will help you get one.
