We fulfil the cyber security responsibilities of the Government Communications Security Bureau (GCSB) | Te Tira Tiaki, and provide cyber security services to all New Zealanders – from individuals and small businesses and organisations up to large enterprises, government, and critical national infrastructure.About the roleWe’re looking for an experienced communicator who can lead our work promoting cyber security messages to a range of New Zealanders – from everyday people to businesses to government agencies.Join our positive, collaborative team and contribute to our mission of protecting New Zealanders from online security risks.In this role you will effectively lead, develop and manage team staff to positively influence their progress towards successful results, own the development of NCSC key messages and content for all NCSC audiences (general public, business and organisations, government), ensuring they are up to date, relevant and insightful, oversee media management activities to ensure queries are responded to promptly, lead the provision of communications advice, support and planning that enhances organisational reputation and minimises communication risk, liaise with internal and external counterparts to ensure that communications advice is relevant and responsive to changing requirements, lead and provide oversight of communications publications and products including the NCSC Quarterly Insights Report and Cyber Threat Report, and access great development and learning opportunities and be at the forefront of cyber security marketing and communication in New Zealand.Who we’re looking forThe successful candidate Must have experience in government communications at a senior level Must have experience in media management Should have experience leading people or projectsWill ideally have a background or understanding of cyber security, technology and/or national security issues.Why work for us Alongside getting to work with other talented people, we also offer a range of comprehensive benefits which include: Medical Insurance and Vision Care packages Enhanced employer contributions to your Kiwisaver Generous Leave benefits, including additional paid days off and enhanced sick and parental leave Childcare allowance for your preschoolers Onsite free gym (Wellington) Opportunities for personal and professional growth and career pathways across the intelligence community Great work-life balance The expected appointment range for this role is $120,358 - $128,382 per annum.

Before you apply Working within our unique environment means we have to ensure you're eligible for employment. You must: Have been a New Zealand Citizen for at least 10 years OR Hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of the UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years Be eligible to obtain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearance Ordinarily, this means you'll have a 15 year checkable background in countries NZSIS Vetting can make meaningful and reliable checks.
