  • one of NZ Transport Agency's most significant transformation programmes.

In this role, you will lead best practice internal and external communications that support successful programme delivery, working closely with Public Transport Authorities, programme partners, senior leaders and stakeholders across NZTA.

You'll be a trusted advisor within the NTS Management Team, shaping clear narratives, managing risk, and ensuring communications align with government priorities and organisational strategy.

Ō Pūmanawa | What we're looking forOur ideal candidate will have some or all of the following (but don't worry if you don't tick every box):Extensive experience leading strategic communications and engagement for large, complex programmes or projectsProven ability to develop and deliver integrated communications strategies, managing risk and solving complex issuesExcellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear, compelling messagesStrong experience across a range of communications disciplines, including internal communications, stakeholder engagement, media, marketing, and content developmentDemonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with senior leaders, partners, and diverse stakeholder groupsExperience working collaboratively in multi-partner or public sector environmentsKnowledge of, or a willingness to build capability in, Te Ao Māori, tikanga, Te Reo Māori, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi as it applies in the public sectorA relevant tertiary qualification in communications or a related discipline (IAP2 training desirable but not essential) Mō mātou | About usAt NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi, our purpose is Moving.

The Te Waka Kōtuia Engagement and Partnerships Group leads effective engagement, communications, and partnerships to support the delivery of transport outcomes nationwide.

Within this group, the Communications & Marketing team is the centre of excellence for communications practice across NZTA, providing leadership and advice across internal and external communications, stakeholder engagement, marketing, and brand.
