Pizza and pasta Chef/Chef De Partie
We are seeking an experienced Pizza and pasta chef/chef de partie for our popular Italian Restaurant in Wellington city. This is a full time position and applicants must be flexible, as shifts can vary from day to night and weekends.
We are located on Cuba Street Santeria Pizza and Pasta. We serve a full menu with Pizzas and Pastas. This role would be suited to a Chef with at least 2 years experience in a busy kitchen. We are looking for someone who is creative and has a passion for food.
Applicants must be able to work unattended as well as with a team, have a good attitude and strong work ethic.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Hand stretching pizza bases toping and cooking in wood fire pizza oven.
Making fresh dough every day.
Making Fresh pasta and cooking to order.
Getting prep done before service.
Making weekly and day to day specials, By planning menus and communicating with manager and other chefs and organizing for the same from season to season.
Ensuring food costs are not too high and labor cost is balanced.
Responsible for ordering stock and everyday requirements of the Restaurant. Also buying supplies with good deals and communicating regularly with food suppliers.
Ensures positive energy in busy kitchen environment and creating a good team spirit.
Coordinating with the manager and chef to create a smooth flow of work between front and back staff.
Monitoring the quality and hygiene aspects by ensuring food safety protocols are met.[Checking temperatures of fridges, Raw meat is not left out, storage of meat and other food products separately, making weekly cleaning schedules]
Focusing on presentation, flavor, Quality and balance of components of each dish going out of the kitchen.
Discussing and handling Food complaints and maintenance issues with Manager and kitchen staff to take immediate actions by identifying problem and finding solutions.
Cooking food and handling busy days by ensuring food is rightly seasoned , Focusing on the consistency of taste and presentation of food.
Filling the log book on daily basis writing down and passing information to other staff members.

- Have the Skills to manage the kitchen independently.
- Experience in making hand stretched Pizza.
- Knowledge of Pastas and making Pizzas in Wood Fired Oven.
- Have a sound knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
