About the Role

An exciting opening is available for a dynamic and highly motivated professional to join our SSS Leadership team at Te Toka Tumai as the Quality Lead.

This critical role is responsible for overseeing and managing the Quality Management System across ACH and GCC sites. This role ensures the service consistently meets the requirements and regulatory standards (AS5639, ISO 13485) relating to the decontamination and sterilisation of reusable medical devices (RMDs).

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining and updating policies, procedures, and compliance documentation
  • Coordinating quality assurance activities across the service
  • Supporting audit readiness and regulatory compliance
  • Driving continuous improvement aligned with the mission, vision, and values of Te Toka Tumai Auckland
  • Collaborating with clinical and operational teams to ensure safe, effective, and timely patient care through quality systems

About the Service

The SSS is responsible for the disinfecting and sterilising of RMDs. SSS at Te Toka Tumai is currently the only Sterilising Department in New Zealand accredited with ISO 13485, utilising advanced sterilisation technology, training methodologies, and cutting-edge software to offer comprehensive support to our customers.

We provide services to 48 operating theatres and over 30 patient care areas (clinics) throughout the Greenlane Clinical Centre and Auckland Hospital.

About you

We are looking for an experienced individual with a minimum of 5 years of demonstrated expertise in Sterilising Unit operations. Our ideal candidate will have a solid background in quality management systems, and a strong track record in developing and implementing continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Experience in reviewing operational processes and demonstrated competency in professional writing and documentation is essential.

Essential requirements:

  • New Zealand Diploma in Sterilising Technology (Level 5).
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of industry regulations and standards.
  • Extensive experience in sterilisation practices and quality assurance.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing quality improvement initiatives
  • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with staff and key stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Commitment to biculturalism and achieving equitable outcomes for Maori

Desirable:

  • Tertiary Education e.g. preferably Bachelor's Degree related to Quality
  • Proficient in use of Quality Systems charts tools
  • Proficient in reviewing and developing operational processes and procedures
