This is a permanent, full-time role (40 hours per week), where the successful candidate will undertake varied orthoptic responsibilities, including working in specialist pediatric, ocular motility, and neuro-ophthalmology clinics.Reporting to the lead ophthalmic technician, you will provide orthoptic assessments and ophthalmic technical assistance to our team of ophthalmologists, ensuring comprehensive patient care.
Key responsibilities:Work closely with our team of 20 specialist ophthalmologists, including 4 paediatric ophthalmologists and 2 neuro-ophthalmologists, across our main clinic and outer clinics.Complete evaluations and treatment of adult and paediatric patients with disorders of the visual system, with an emphasis on binocular vision and eye movement disorders, evaluation of need for and fitting of Fresnel and spectacle prisms, convergence exercises, infant vision assessment, retinoscopy, and refraction.Provide technical assistance to ophthalmologists during patient consultations, procedures, and diagnostic tests.Offer education and support to patients and families regarding their eye conditions and treatment options.Potential for involvement in clinical research trials, contributing to advancements in eye care.Our ideal candidate will have:You will need to be legally able to work in NZ.You will also have:3
