Our client is a well-established industrial services provider supporting key infrastructure, utilities, and mining operations across the Bay of Plenty region. This business operates in a fast-paced, service-driven environment, delivering critical maintenance and repair work to commercial and industrial clients. Success in this role requires strong technical expertise, a hands-on approach, and the ability to operate independently across a range of site-based environments.
This is a field-based role suited to an experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic who enjoys variety, autonomy, and working directly on client sites, including time spent in mining environments.
The Role- Permanent, full-time position
- Minimum 40 hours per week
- Predominantly site-based work across client locations
- Travel to various sites as required, including regional work
- Mix of solo and team-based work
- Overnight work and callouts required from time to time
- Heavy Diesel Maintenance & Repairs
- Servicing, maintenance, and repair of heavy diesel machinery
- Fault finding and diagnostics across a range of equipment
- Breakdown response and emergency repairs
- Completion of preventative maintenance schedules
- Ensuring equipment reliability and uptime
- Working primarily across client sites
- Regular exposure to industrial and utilities environments
- Ideally spending 2–3 days per week in mining environments
- Ensuring all work is completed safely and efficiently
- Maintaining strong communication with clients and internal teams
- Proven experience as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic
- You will be a fully qualified New Zealand Disel mechanic
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding capability
- Confident working independently in field-based environments
- Highly practical, hands-on, and solutions-focused
- Physically capable and comfortable in demanding environments
- Good communication skills and ability to engage with clients on site
- Clean NZ driver’s licence and flexibility to travel
- Must be currently living and be eligible to work Full-time in New Zealand
Desirable:
- Class 4 or 5 licence
- Forklift licence
- Experience in mining, industrial, or heavy equipment environments
- $43–$45 per hour (depending on experience)
- Time-and-a-half overtime for hours worked over 40.
- Phone and laptop provided
- Overnight, travel, and call-out allowances
