Frankton Golf Centre is looking to take on a Golf Professional Trainee to start or continue their PGA Trainee Program and work with our experienced Golf Team Leader, Jamie McIsaac, to kickstart your lifelong career with the PGA. If you have recently qualified with the PGA, please also apply; we are open to recent graduates too.
What you’ll be doing / He aha te mahi
Working 35 hours a week in the retail space with mentoring from our Golf Team Leader to assist the trainee in achieving their PGA status over the coming years. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who’s passionate about golf to gain hands-on experience in retail, golf operations, coaching, and customer service, all while continuing your PGA training.
The role will involve:- Assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Pro Shop, including sales and customer service.
- Supporting and delivering coaching sessions under the guidance of senior professionals.
- Helping to manage the driving range and practice facilities.
- Engaging with members and guests to enhance their experience at the centre.
- Maintaining and managing golf equipment and facilities.
- Continue your PGA training and professional development.
What you’ll bring to the role / Ko wai to Pukeka
We’re looking for a motivated and customer-focused individual with a passion for golf to join our team. Ideally, you’ll have NCEA Level 2 and be working towards completion of the PGA Trainee Programme. You’ll bring excellent communication skills, a friendly and honest approach, and a strong sense of initiative.A background in golf, retail experience (particularly in golf), and a team-oriented mindset will set you up for success in this role.
To best succeed in this role, you’ll have:- A keen golfer working towards or eager to enrol in the PGA training program.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- A proactive and enthusiastic attitude with a willingness to learn.
- Ability to work flexible hours, weekend work is an expectation of this role.
- Retail or coaching experience (preferred but not essential).

Applications for the 2026 PGA Traineeship program are now Open. We will contribute to the cost of The PGA Trainee Program which is facilitated over a three (3) year period and is delivered through online learning modules, face-to-face residentials and on the job training.PGA Trainee Professionals work alongside fully qualified PGA members and receive practical work experience and on-the-job training at approved golf facilities.
