Business Development (Senior) Consultant

Own client relationships in the Wellington market

This is more than a BD role—it's about becoming a trusted advisor. You'll build long-term relationships, chase leads, confidently connect with new contacts, and work closely with delivery consultants to match the right talent with client needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive new business across Wellington's public and private sectors
  • Manage and nurture existing client relationships
  • Understand client structures, roles, and hiring needs
  • Proactively identify and pursue recruitment opportunities
  • Work with marketing to craft compelling outreach and campaigns
  • Be involved in commercial negotiations and pricing discussions
  • Build a strong personal brand in-market through events and online presence.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in business development, sales, agency recruitment or client-facing roles
  • Confident making cold calls and chasing leads
  • Knowledge of the machinery of government in Wellington
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Strategic thinker who can connect the dots and spot opportunities
  • Experience working in the IT space, or specifically in IT agency recruitment is desirable.
