Play a pivotal role in keeping a national regulatory body running at its best
  • Oversee systems, policies, and processes that keep the organisation running smoothly
  • Enjoy the variety of a role where strategy and hands-on tasks go hand in hand

About the role

The New Zealand Registered Architects Board (NZRAB) is a statutory entity established under the Registered Architects Act 2005. With around 2,400 registered architects, they are responsible for registering architects and maintaining the online register, investigating complaints, setting and maintaining professional standards, and providing information to the public about their regulatory role.

We’re looking for an Operations Manager to support NZRAB’s small team by ensuring smooth running and efficiency of the organisation and ensuring a high quality service to their stakeholders.

This is a full time (40 hours per week) permanent position, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, based in a centrally located office with amazing views of the Wellington harbour.

What you’ll do:

  • Be the trusted right hand to the Chief Executive and Board, providing high-level executive and governance support
  • Oversee organisational systems and operations – from HR and travel management to suppliers and office processes
  • Provide oversight of risk and compliance, and support finance operations
  • Drive communications across the NZRAB website, social media and newsletters
  • Play a key role in projects and system improvements, including the rollout of a new CRM
  • Foster a collaborative team culture, ensuring priorities are met and the organisation runs efficiently
What we’re looking for
  • 5+ years’ experience in a senior operations, administration, or executive support role
  • A background in a regulatory, membership, or public sector environment is an advantage
  • Proven ability to manage systems, policies, and processes across finance, HR, IT, and administration
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Tech-savvy and confident learning new tools to improve efficiency
  • Experience providing CEO and Board secretariat services, including meeting preparation and minute-taking
  • Highly organised and adaptable, thrives in a small team environment and can balance competing priorities with ease

Why join NZRAB?

This is an exciting opportunity to join a close-knit team and help shape the future of a growing professional association where no two days will ever be the same. You'll contribute to an organisation that values fairness, integrity, agility, and transparency.

On top of meaningful work, NZRAB provides professional development opportunities, extra leave over Christmas and New Year and the flexibility to work from home one day a week.

Join NZRAB as Operations Manager – support the CE and Board, keep things running smoothly, and bring fresh energy to a small, collaborative team.
