Job Description:The Chef de Partie plays a key role in the kitchen team, responsible for preparing and delivering high-quality dishes to meet the standards of Matakana Market Kitchen. The ideal candidate will be self-sufficient, capable of working independently, and committed to maintaining excellence in food preparation and kitchen operations.
Reporting To: Head Chef, Sous Chef
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and cook dishes to a consistently high standard, as directed by the Head Chef.
Assist in the creation and execution of daily specials and signature à la carte dishes, ensuring cost-effective use of produce.
Develop and prepare daily specials that complement MMK’s wine selection, focusing on affordable, wine-friendly international cuisine.
Oversee preparation for each service, including staff meals, and complete all tasks assigned by the Head Chef.
Maintain a clean, organized, and hygienic workstation, including kitchen and storage areas, adhering to strict hygiene standards at all times.
Manage stock levels for the assigned station, report food and non-food orders to the Head Chef, and ensure proper storage of incoming goods.
Implement effective stock rotation and regularly organize all storage areas, with particular attention to chillers and freezers to minimize waste.
Participate in team meetings, training sessions, supplier visits, and team-building activities to enhance knowledge of local produce and improve skills.
Engage with guests in a professional and approachable manner, ensuring a positive dining experience.
