The Role
Reporting directly to the General Manager of Manufacturing and based in their South Auckland manufacturing facility ( Or Palmerston north if you fancy a relocation). You will be responsible for managing the Engineering Requirements and Engineering Teams nationally, providing technical leadership and support with respect to all aspects and engineering and design.Our client is a leader within the heavy transport industry providing the design, manufacture, service, and repair of heavy transportation.
This is a critical role to ensure to overall smooth delivery of high-quality, design leading, heavy transportation. Working closely with the manufacturing teams/jobbing shops across 3 NZ sites and leading the design and process engineering teams.
Responsibilities- Ensure design certification meets NZTA requirements - this requires you to have a transport design background ( from any transport industry )
- Ensure all inspections meet company & legislative procedures/requirements.
- Work closely with General Manager of Manufacturing to create master production plans.
- Responsible for the overall health & safety and quality standards
- Drive & Coordinate all required engineering drawings in coordination with master production plan for all branches.
- Manage and lead initiates around reducing unnecessary costs through engineering outputs
- Leadership & development of Engineering's & Design team
- Have gained significant experience working in Heavy Transport Manufacturing environment or from within a similar industry sector (Transportation/Structural Steel ect) is critical.
- The ability to travel, monthly across all three sites.
- You will hold the relevant Mechanical/Design - engineering qualifications. NOTE: Qualifications as a Design Certifying Engineer would be favorable. However, the right candidate will be professionally upskilled & qualified in time.
- You will be well versed from daily use, in all relevant software including Autocad & Solidworks
- Possess excellent written and communication skills, combined with attention to detail.
- Strong relationship building skills and the ability to build strong company culture.
