Inspire. Grow. Belong.

About Us:

At BestStart Te Awamutu, we believe learning is most powerful when it's rooted in community. Our centre is deeply connected to the people and places around us — from local excursions to nurturing relationships with whanau and neighbourhood organisations.

These connections shape a rich, responsive curriculum that supports tamariki to thrive.

We're now looking for an inspiring caregiver or teacher in training to join our exceptional, values-driven team. If you have a heart for young children and a commitment to helping them flourish, we'd love to meet you.

This is a permanent fulltime position working 40 hours per week.

Your Role:

As a caregiver or teacher in training, you'll be an integral part of our team helping tamariki learn, laugh, and grow every day. You'll bring energy, empathy, and a genuine love for working with young children, especially under the age of five.

While an ECE qualification is not required, experience with young children and a natural connection with tamariki is essential.

You will:

  • Provide a nurturing and engaging learning environment for all tamariki.
  • Encourage children's development through meaningful play and activities.
  • Be a supportive, flexible team member who contributes to the daily rhythm of our centre.
  • Build warm, trusting relationships with children, whanau, and colleagues.
  • Support daily centre operations and help with staff breaks when needed.
Why Join Us?

At BestStart Te Awamutu, we're committed to your growth just as much as the growth of our tamariki.

We offer:

  • Ongoing learning through our Whare Ako online platform.
  • Professional development and clear pathways for career progression.
  • A $2000 referral bonus for recommending a Qualified Teacher.*
  • Discounted childcare – because we know it makes a difference.
  • Subsidised health insurance to support your wellbeing.
Ready to Make a Difference?

If you're passionate about early childhood, excited to grow your career, and eager to be part of a supportive, inspiring team, we want to hear from you. Click “Apply Now” to begin your journey with us at BestStart Te Awamutu.
