About the Role

The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) position is a joint clerical reception and clinical support role. Reporting to the Charge Nurse Manager, a PCA's duties can vary day to day, depending on the needs of the department. This could include greeting and welcoming patients and whanau in a professional and friendly manner, working on specific administrative tasks, or providing general support to clinics.

The PCA also works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse to provide support and care to patients, with the overall goal of enhancing the patient experience. Specific training will be provided to ensure you have the appropriate skills to perform this role.

Te Whatu Ora Health New Zealand Waitemata provides health services to approximately 500,000 residents in the North Shore, Waitakere, and Rodney areas. It has the largest population of any health district.

North Shore Hospital is accessed by Shakespeare Road in Takapuna and is situated on the shores of Lake Pupuke. The ward tower block overlooks the Rangitoto Channel and the majestic Rangitoto Island on one side, and the Waitemata Harbour with views extending towards Auckland City on the other.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Proficiency in computer operations, including data entry and document creation
Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
Experience working in a health care setting as either a Patient Care Assistant or a customer service role.
Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
The ability to work both within a team and independently.
Experience working in a multi-cultural setting.

The ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Previous administrative experience within the healthcare sector would be an advantage.
