Lead with Purpose. Deliver with Excellence. Shape the Future of POU.

At the heart of the Waikato, POU Ltd stands as a proud testament to partnership, integrity, and marae enterprise. 100% marae-owned and guided by Matawhaanui Trust – a collective of local marae – POU was established to deliver exceptional Facilities Management Services at the Huntly Power Station, under a landmark Relationship Agreement with Genesis Energy.

Since 2010, this partnership has reflected the strength of shared purpose: blending cultural integrity with operational excellence to uplift people, community, and performance.

Now, as POU enters an exciting new era of growth and transformation, we seek a dynamic and strategic General Manager to lead our organisation forward. This is more than a leadership role — it’s a chance to steward an marae-owned enterprise that stands firmly on whakapapa and values, while driving innovation, growth, and sustainable success.

Join us in honouring the past, empowering the present, and shaping a future where culture and commerce thrive together.

As General Manager, you will:

  • Drive the strategic direction of POU in partnership with the Board and Matawhaanui Trust.
  • Lead the operational delivery of the Facilities Management Services contract at Huntly Power Station and explore new opportunities to contribute to organisational growth.
  • Cultivate and grow strong relationships with Genesis Energy and other stakeholders.
  • Inspire, empower, and develop a high-performing team.
  • Uphold and promote Maori values, cultural competency, and community engagement at the heart of every decision.

To be successful in this role you will bring:

  • A recognised qualification (or progress toward) in Finance, Business, or Management.
  • At least 10 years’ experience in strategic, operational, and financial leadership roles.
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen with a track record of managing complex contracts and budgets.
  • Proven experience in leading organisational change and driving continuous improvement.
  • Deep understanding of facilities management practices and operational delivery.
  • A commitment to te ao Maaori and demonstrated cultural competency, with knowledge of Te Reo me oona Tikanga a strong advantage.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to build trust, engage stakeholders, and represent POU with integrity and professionalism.

In return, you will be part of a kaupapa-driven organisation that values community, culture, and sustainability and help shape the future of a growing business grounded in partnership and innovation.

If you are a visionary leader ready to take on a strategic and rewarding role, we would love to hear from you.

POU Ltd is an equal opportunity employer committed to upholding the values of manaakitanga, kotahitanga, and whanaungatanga. We welcome applications from all suitably qualified individuals, especially those with a passion for Maaori development and community leadership.
