About the Role:We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Structural Steel Draughtperson to join our team. You will be responsible for undertaking site measures and then producing accurate shop drawings and fabrication details for a range of structural steel projects, working closely with project managers, engineers, and our in-house fabrication team.
Key Responsibilities:- Produce 3D models and detailed fabrication/shop drawings using Tekla Structures (or similar software)
- Interpret architectural and structural drawings to generate accurate steel detailing
- Undertake site measures, this may require working at heights and after hours
- Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and fabricators to ensure constructability and efficiency
- Prepare and manage drawing registers and issue logs
- Ensure all drawings comply with relevant NZ codes and project specifications
- Assist with resolving site queries and design clashes
- Proven experience in structural steel detailing, preferably using Tekla Structures
- Solid understanding of steel fabrication processes and construction practices
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Excellent communication and coordination abilities
- Knowledge of New Zealand building codes and standards is preferred
