Rata is seeking a skilled and passionate Chef de Partie to join our established kitchen team in the heart of Queenstown.
Tucked between mountains and lakes, our food reflects the rhythm of the South. We work closely with local growers and farmers and often forage ourselves, letting nature guide what ends up on the plate. Each dish tells a story of place — thoughtful, expressive, and full of soul.
The Role
As Chef de Partie, you will take ownership of your section and contribute to the smooth, high-quality operation of the kitchen. This is a hands-on role suited to a chef who values consistency, craftsmanship, and teamwork, and who is excited to cook with seasonal, locally sourced ingredients.
Key Responsibilities- Run your section efficiently during service
- Prepare and present dishes to a consistently high standard
- Maintain food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness standards
- Work closely with the Head Chef and wider kitchen team
- Contribute creatively to menu development and seasonal changes
- Previous experience as a Chef de Partie, or a strong Commis Chef ready to step up
- Passion for produce-driven cooking and working with New Zealand ingredients
- Solid technical skills and attention to detail
- Calm and organised under pressure in a busy kitchen
- A positive attitude and strong team ethic
