We are looking for an experienced Commercial Manager to join our Auckland team, to drive procurement activities on a major Auckland project.
The role
As a key player in developing and implementing procurement strategies, you will take a hands-on role with in overseeing the management and appointment of complex trades and packages, ensuring smooth and efficient processes whilst ensuring delivery to required programme.
You will take the lead in negotiations, management of supplier relationships, and optimising our supply chain to ensure a successful procurement process. You will have hands on experience in management of internal and external stakeholders whilst ensuring commercial agreements are robust.A proven track record of delivering on time and to clear process is a driver to succeed. Your experience in management of large commercial teams is paramount to achieve the requirements of this project. Your communication and ability to create a conductive work environment with other team members and delivery functions is business as usual.
Your responsibilities will also include managing budgets, reviewing costs to complete, conducting tender and programming reviews, overseeing progress claims and variations, cash flow forecasting, and handling contract setup, reviews, and project reporting.Additionally, you will manage dispute/claim resolution and ensure a successful project closeout.
Alongside your technical expertise, your leadership skills will be vital in guiding and motivating your direct reports in a positive and effective manner.

- Your commercial acumen is a given and you are used to working in high pressure environments.
- Robust relationships with key supply chain ensuring delivery.
- You enjoy building teams and are quick to achieve.
- You are passionate about training and developing your team.
- Currently in an experienced Commercial Manager position with at least 5 years' experience in this role, and at least 10 years as a Senior Quantity Surveyor, specialising in major commercial construction projects.
- Comfortable working with a range of people - clients, consultants, senior management
- A Degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveying or similar relevant qualification preferred.
- Great teamwork and people skills. You'll be comfortable working with a wide range of people including clients, consultants and senior management
- Excellent NZ contract knowledge.
- Excellent financial literacy and exposure to Jobpac or a similar financial control package would be highly desirable
- Advanced computer literacy; particularly in Excel
