The role:

As ourPricing & Commercial Manager, you will be first point of contact for ensuring all aspects of your assigned trades are carried out efficiently and profitably. You will manage pricing and allocation mix to optimise yield across our services.

This role will span beyond ocean, with a focus on growing our landside door-to-door logistics capabilities to widen NPDL’s product catalogue to customers. You will take the lead in procuring rates, building NPDL’s service platform and driving increased landside/Freight Forwarding volumes.

Job Description

What you will be doing:

You will be managing both Liner (ocean) and Landside service offering, with autonomy to shape the landside offering in line with industry best practice. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing your assigned Liner trades by working collaboratively with Country Managers, Head of Sales and Account Managers
  • Assessing trade pricing to optimise carryings/yield and providing day to day pricing on opportunities/tenders/projects
  • Leading/Developing the LCL/Freight Forwarding/Landside service offering by setting the pricing structure and benchmarking against the market, procuring buy rates both within the group, quoting for new business and managing buy/sell rates in Cargowise
  • Monitoring competition and providing recommendations to grow market share
  • Supporting the setting of annual budgets and preparing quarterly commercial forecasts
  • Managing performance of Liner trades & Landside performance against targets. Identifying factors driving deviations and scoping remedial initiatives
  • Managing Cargowise workflows and identifying opportunities to drive business process automation
  • Supporting on ad hoc analysis and administrative tasks and other duties as required

This role is a pivotal one – we are looking for someone to own it and really take control of our continued growth in the Landside service offering. There is also plenty of opportunity for personal and career development.

Qualifications

Here’s what you’ll bring to the table:

  • A sound understanding of shipping/logistics price dynamics
  • A minimum of two years of experience in freight forwarding and/or landside product management
  • Experience in the Pacific Island Liner trade would be advantageous
  • Demonstrated record of effective business partnering through the provision of commercial analytics
  • Experience with Cargowise Liner/Forwarding/LCL modules is a must
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (especially Excel) and using PowerBI dashboards for performance management
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to adapt style to suit a variety of cultures and working styles
  • Ability to think strategically/analytically and execute with excellence
  • Strong time management skills in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
