Receptionist
- Fixed-term – 6 months starting January 2026 (with the possibility of becoming permanent)
- 40 hours per week – Monday to Friday (some after hours & weekend work maybe required)
Whaiora is a kaupapa Maori medical centre committed to delivering integrated health and social services to the Wairarapa community. We are seeking a confident, compassionate, and motivated administrator to join our front-line team. This role is ideal for someone who is values-driven, embraces kaupapa Maori practice, and is passionate about improving health outcomes for whanau.As the first point of contact for our tangata and manuhiri, you will play an important role in creating a safe, welcoming, and culturally grounded experience.

Skills & Attributes RequiredEssential
- A genuine commitment to kaupapa Maori approaches to health and wellbeing
- Understanding of tikanga Maori, with the ability to confidently demonstrate this in everyday interactions
- Ability to engage respectfully with whanau, recognising the importance of manaakitanga, whanaungatanga, and aroha
- Exceptional customer service skills, both kanohi-ki-te-kanohi and over the phone
- Excellent verbal and written communication, with the ability to relate to people with compassion and clarity
- Ability to work calmly and effectively in a busy, fast-paced environment
- Strong organisation and multitasking skills, with high attention to detail
- Professionalism, discretion, and integrity
- Reception and/or administration experience
- Experience working in a Maori, health, or social service environment
- Previous use of MedTech Evolution (preferred but not essential)
- Providing a warm and culturally grounded welcome to patients and manuhiri
- Answering phone calls, managing enquiries, and scheduling appointments
- Supporting patients with enrolment, updating details, and transferring clinical notes
- Processing invoicing and EFTPOS transactions
- Contributing to a positive team environment where tikanga and kaupapa Maori values guide practice
- Ensuring the reception area reflects a safe, supportive, and mana-enhancing space for whanau
