Marketing Lead
Banqer
At Banqer, we believe every student should be empowered to financially thrive.
More than 700,000 students across Australasia have experienced our classroom-based financial education, brought to life through real-world financial simulations that make learning engaging, relevant, and meaningful.
We make delivering world-leading financial education easy, equipping teachers with innovative tools to deliver impactful learning experiences that prepare students for life beyond the classroom.
With education and people at our core, and technology as our enabler, we’re here to create meaningful impact in communities while building a commercially strong and sustainable business.
The Role
We’re looking for a hands-on Marketing Lead to join our friendly, collaborative team.
In this role, you’ll report to the CEO, support and guide our Marketing Specialist, and work closely with our Revenue team, especially Sales, to drive Banqer’s growth across Australia and New Zealand.
This is a role for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, shaping marketing strategy, and getting into the practical work of bringing great marketing to life. You’ll lead by doing, not just overseeing.
You’ll be accountable for building demand and improving conversion, helping Banqer consistently acquire new schools and grow usage across our platforms.
If you’re excited by purposeful work, enjoy teaming up with good people, and want to make a meaningful difference in education, we’d love to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities:
- Marketing strategy: Develop and communicate a clear, actionable marketing strategy grounded in audience personas, ensuring alignment across the team.
- Market and trend insight: Stay on top of trends in financial education, K–12 education, competitor activity, and regulatory change, sharing insights with Sales, Customer Success, and Product.
- Campaign execution: Design, execute, and optimise campaigns across event-based marketing, account-based marketing (including direct mail), community-based acquisition, and email nurture campaigns to engage and convert prospective customers.
- Sales collaboration: Partner with Sales to design and deliver campaigns that attract and convert schools, supporting sales targets with strong lead flow and marketing enablement.
- Brand and positioning: Strengthen Banqer’s positioning and presence, clearly communicating our value and what makes us different.
- Content management: Maintain a clear and useful content library, and oversee the creation of new content across channels to support marketing goals.
- Process and systems: Improve campaign, lead management, and content distribution processes to support scale and consistency.
- Budget management: Develop and manage the marketing budget, allocating resources across campaigns, tools, and partnerships to maximise impact.
- Performance measurement: Define, track, and report on key marketing performance metrics, using results and feedback to refine strategies and improve conversion.
- Partner activation: Work with partners who support schools to access Banqer to celebrate and activate partnerships through joint marketing initiatives.
- External relationships: Build relationships with relevant media, agencies, and education organisations to expand reach and credibility.
Requirements
You’re an experienced marketer who enjoys both strategy and hands-on work. You like solving problems, connecting with people, and helping a team tell a great story. But you’re also commercially minded, and you care about driving tangible results, generating demand, and turning attention into action.
Here’s what will help you thrive in this role:
- Relevant experience: You’ve led marketing efforts in a similar role, ideally in software or a start-up/scale-up, with a track record of driving commercial outcomes.
- Great communicator: You express ideas clearly, both in writing and in person, and build strong relationships internally and externally.
- Self-starter: You’re proactive, organised, and able to work independently while still being a great team collaborator.
- High EQ: You’re thoughtful, empathetic, and work well with a wide range of people and partners.
- Data curious: You enjoy digging into results to understand what’s working and what could be better, and you use insights to refine your approach.
- Strong time management: You’re comfortable juggling multiple projects and priorities, and you consistently meet deadlines.
- Resilient: You stay grounded under pressure and take ownership of outcomes, learning quickly from what doesn’t work.
- Leadership mindset: You support and uplift those around you, whether or not you’ve led a team formally.
- Tool-savvy: You’re familiar with key marketing platforms and CRMs, and you enjoy learning new tools (experience with ActiveCampaign and HubSpot is a bonus).
- Collaborative in-office culture: You embrace an ‘office first’ culture, working shoulder to shoulder with your colleagues to foster a collaborative and engaging work environment.
- Purpose-driven: You’re motivated by Banqer’s mission to help students thrive financially through real-world learning.
Benefits
At Banqer, we’re proud of our collaborative, people-centred culture. We’re a small but mighty team that supports one another, celebrates the wins, and shares the load when things get busy.
We’re also ambitious and impact-driven, so start-up/scale-up life isn’t for everyone. But if you enjoy moving quickly, taking ownership, and doing work that genuinely matters, you’ll feel right at home.
Here’s what we offer:
- A competitive salary package, including 4% KiwiSaver salary match.
- A full team ESOP (Employee Share Option Plan).
- An extra day of leave for birthday.
- A great office location near Lincoln Road eateries, with free on-site parking.
- An office-first culture, with flexible work hours if you need to start early/late or step out for the school run.
- The tools you need to do great work, including being added to the business phone plan and the option of an ergonomic sit/stand desk.
- Professional development and growth opportunities.
- Access to an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) for confidential wellbeing support.
- Meaningful work with direct impact, including school visits to see Banqer in action.
- A close-knit culture shaped by our values: Team Player, Have Heart, and Whakawhanake.
