Plumber, Gasfitter & Drainlayer (A-Player Role)

placeTaupo calendar_month

This role exists because one of our very best has stepped on to his next chapter. We are now looking for the next A-player to step in.

At McBeth Plumbing & Gas, we have built a reputation over 40 years for doing things properly, technically, professionally and culturally. We are a well-established, family-owned business in Taupo with strong values, systems, loyal clients and a genuinely great team.

This is not a volume-based, rush-job role. This role suits someone who takes pride in quality, ownership and variety.

The Role:
We are looking for an experienced Licensed Plumber, Gasfitter and Drainlayer with a broad, well-rounded skillset, including;
  • Residential and light commercial maintenance
  • Fault finding and service work across both plumbing and gas
  • Bathroom renovations with high-quality finishing
  • Drainlaying and practical problem solving on site
  • Running your own jobs end-to-end with pride and ownership
  • Confident using digital job management systems to a high standard, including clear communication, accurate job notes and professional job close-out
  • Supporting and mentoring apprentices, leading by example

You will be self-driven, organised and accountable, with the ability to manage your time, communicate well with customers and teammates, and follow jobs through properly.

You will be people-focused, taking pride in how you represent the company on site and leaving customers confident in the work completed.

You will be trusted, supported and given autonomy, because we hire people who know their craft, take responsibility for their work and care about their reputation.

What You Will Get (The McBeth KAPAI Care Package):
We believe great tradies deserve more than just a wage. The McBeth KAPAI Care Package is about supporting our people professionally, personally and over the long term;
  • Top hourly rate, based on experience
  • $2 per hour tool allowance (over $4,000 per year)
  • Company vehicle
  • Quality tools, uniforms, PPE and boots
  • Life-friendly hours, 7.30am to 4.00pm
  • Paid day off on your birthday
  • Annual licensing fees paid
  • Relocation support if you are moving to Taupo
  • Personal development and regular one-on-ones with your Manager
  • Annual team alignment day
  • Our legendary Annual Closed for Fun day
  • Flexi-perks such as extra annual leave, higher KiwiSaver contributions or a fuel allowance

We are big on life, not just work. That is why long-term team members earn access to unique experiences, personal growth opportunities and meaningful time away, not just pay rises.

Who This Role Is For: You will thrive here if you are;

  • A licensed and qualified Plumber, Gasfitter, and Drainlayer with a current NZ practising licence
  • Confident across maintenance, renovations and service work
  • Proud of your workmanship and your name on the job
  • Reliable, honest and proactive
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a tight team
  • Aligned with our KAPAI values - Kind, Authentic, People-Focused, Accountable and Innovative

Why Taupo:

Taupo offers a genuine lifestyle that works for both individuals and families. Finish work at 4.00pm and spend time fishing, biking, hunting, skiing or straight at the lake. For families, Taupo has excellent schools, safe neighbourhoods, strong community connections and endless outdoor activities for kids, all without big-city commute times.

It is a place where you can build a solid career while still having time and energy for your partner, your children and the life you want outside of work.

Ready to Apply?:

If you are looking for more than just a job and want to be part of a company that values quality, people and life outside work, we would love to hear from you.
