material testing and intrusive investigations. We are seeking a construction project manager to plan, organise, control, and coordinate the design and construction of civil engineering and building projects.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities- Scoping projects and preparing fee proposals and bids
- Engage and manage consultants and subcontractors to achieve design goals and objectives
- Negotiating with building owners, property developers and subcontractors involved in the construction process to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
- Project management with an understanding of construction-related issues, accurate cost forecasting, risk management and sustainable project delivery
- Preparing specifications and coordinating consent submissions and approvals, and ensuring all contract documentation is recorded correctly for projects
- Undertaking site measurement, taking photos, recording observations, and coordinating other forms of testing/site work
- Recording site records and arranging building inspections by local authorities
- Managing teams to meet design objectives within budget expectations and promoting effective teamwork
- Review shop drawings for compliance with the design documentations and specifications, and if required, sketch drawings for drafting staff to prepare design documentation suitable for construction
- After appropriate training, provide construction monitoring services on works designed eventually leading to issue documentation for the CCC application
- Time recording using Workflow Max and Xero reconciliation as per company policy
- Entertaining and/or meeting clients and other stakeholders, if required
- Provide support in managing the operational needs of SSL
- Attending office gatherings (encouraged) and networking with other companies
- Legal rights to work in New Zealand
- A bachelor's degree or graduate diploma at NZQCF Level 7, which includes the requirements of a New Zealand major in civil engineering, quantity surveying, construction, construction management or construction project management. OR A diploma at NZQCF Level 6, or a higher qualification, with the minimum equivalent of 240 credits, which includes the knowledge requirements of a New Zealand Diploma (Level 6) in the focus areas of quantity surveying, construction economics, construction management or building.
- Prior construction management, supervision, and monitoring experience
- Qualification in civil engineering or quantity surveying will be considered as an edge
- Ability to deliver accurate, concise and timely reports on related matters
- Excellent written, interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to relate to a diverse range of stakeholders
