Oak & Ivy is a seasonal, produce-driven restaurant in the heart of Blenheim. We cook with quality ingredients, focusing on Marlborough produce, thoughtful technique and honest food. We’re a relaxed, modern restaurant that values quality, warmth and genuine hospitality.
We are currently looking for an experienced Sous Chef to join our growing kitchen team and help shape the next chapter of Oak & Ivy. This is a great opportunity for someone passionate about seasonal cooking, strong kitchen culture, and delivering consistently high-quality food in a supportive and creative environment.
About the role:As Sous Chef, you will work closely alongside our Head Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen. This role involves leading service, supporting and mentoring junior staff, assisting with menu development, maintaining kitchen standards, and helping ensure smooth kitchen operations.
You will be someone who thrives in a busy service environment, takes pride in consistency and organisation, and brings a positive attitude to the team each day.
About you:
Minimum three years’ proven experience as a Sous ChefStrong leadership and communication skills
Confident cooking with seasonal produce and simple, well-executed food
Good technical skills and attention to detail
Experience managing kitchen operations during service
Ability to train and support junior team members
Reliable, organised, and calm under pressure
Positive attitude and team-focused mindset
