Beyond Recruitment is partnering with a values driven New Zealand organisation to appoint an experienced HR Manager into a pivotal, sole charge people leadership role.
This role offers the opportunity to work closely with an engaged senior leadership team in a business that genuinely values pragmatic, trust based HR and strong culture. The environment is fast moving, people centred, and currently undergoing meaningful organisational change.
The Opportunity
As HR Manager, you will take ownership of the full people and culture function, balancing operational delivery with strategic influence. You’ll act as a trusted adviser to leaders, coach managers through complex situations, and ensure people practices support both business performance and employee experience.
This is a highly visible role, ideal for someone who enjoys variety, autonomy, and being close to the business.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and deliver all core HR activities across the employee lifecycle
- Coach and support leaders on people, performance, and culture matters
- Enhance employee engagement, communication, and leadership capability
- Manage recruitment end to end, including talent pipelining and onboarding
- Oversee employment relations, ensuring pragmatic, risk balanced advice
- Lead and support organisational change initiatives
- Manage payroll, remuneration reviews, and HR systems
- Develop learning, performance, and succession frameworks
- Provide oversight and support across Health & Safety and ISO requirements
- Lead and develop a small support team
About You
To be successful in this role, you’ll bring:
- Proven experience in a senior generalist or sole charge HR role
- Strong knowledge of New Zealand employment legislation
- Sound judgement, maturity, and confidence handling nuanced people issues
- A pragmatic, business focused approach rather than a policy heavy style
- Excellent relationship building and communication skills
- Strong organisational and problem solving capability
- Comfort operating in change and ambiguity
- Experience leading small teams and managing across multiple workstreams
- Relevant tertiary qualification (advantageous but not essential)
