Maintenance Manager

  • Train and develop my team on how to complete Planned Maintenance on all McDonald’s equipment and Daily Cleaning Tasks on all equipment, furniture and the physical plant.
  • To follow all workplace safety and security processes including identifying and assessing hazards and attending Safety Team meetings.
  • To use all chemicals in line with the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) and follow correct procedures, including mandatory use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and its maintenance.
  • To contribute and strive towards achieving the goals and targets of the restaurant.
  • To use my management training, as well as my handyman experience, specifically my mechanical and/or engineering and/or plumbing background to lead my team to achieve McDonald’s high cleanliness and operating standards.
  • To build relationships with external contractors.
  • Set the annual Maintenance and Repair budget, and manage M&R on the P&L
  • Ordering parts for equipment repair, and holding specific spare parts in store.
  • Tracking repair work on equipment and bringing to the Restaurant Manager’s attention when a piece of equipment is no longer economically viable to maintain, and needs replacing.
ROLE DESCRIPTION

I am responsible for the restaurant Maintenance Team

I lead my team to:
  • Maintain all aspects of the internal and external restaurant environment to provide a clean, functioning and welcoming environment for customers and the team.
  • Take pride in the quality of their work, and to proactively look for ways to improve the restaurant.
  • Ensure that equipment is functioning correctly (calibrating times and temperatures) and the environment is safe and secure for our Crew, Managers and Customers.
  • To maintain the restaurant carpark, patio and all exterior equipment to ensure a safe, clean and functional environment. I am responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and good repair of bins, gardens, curbs, signage, drive thru lane, floors, tables, chairs and any other maintenance tasks requested by the Restaurant Manager.
  • Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness in all aspects of the restaurant – including the dining room, toilets, internal/external windows, Playland and party rooms to create a pleasant and hygienic customer space. I ensure other general items are maintained, including safe removal of needles/syringes, pest notification, and maintaining the condition of flags.
  • organise and clean the back area of the restaurant including the corral area and restrooms.
  • Ensure the completion of Daily, Weekly, and Monthly tasks as per the Planned Maintenance Calendar, ensuring all tasks are completed on all equipment as per the restaurant’s Food Control Plan, and Head Office and external food safety audits.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Must have a mechanical or engineering background or experience in dealing with restaurant equipment, how to keep it clean, and/or a basic knowledge of fixing issues with restaurant equipment such as commercial toasters, grills, deep fryers, beverage machines, including coffee/café equipment and basic plumbing and physical plant repair skills (basic building and handyman skills).

Must have management experience.

Pay and hours
Pay rate: $28.50 - $32.00 per hour.

Minimum guaranteed hours: 30 weekly, including weekends and night shifts.

Location Note

We own and operate five busy restaurants in Gore, Invercargill and Queenstown. This role will require travel and work across these locations, in Otago and Southland.
