School Caretaker – Finlayson Park School

This role is responsible for maintaining our grounds, ensuring health & safety and security standards are met, and delivering an excellent environment for teaching and learning.

• Oversee the daily operations of a three-person team.
• Maintain the buildings and grounds to a high standard including; mowing, rubbish/leaf removal and general presentation.
• Contribute to the Health and Safety and Compliance within the school including, Building Warrant of Fitness (BWOF) schedules and checks, keep up to date with all fire safety requirements, and contribute to the H&S Committee.
• Oversee site security, alarms and ensure safe lock-up and lock-down procedures.
• Carry out minor property repairs and occasionally liaise with contractors.
• Order and manage stock/consumables.

• Practical, organised and able to prioritise across planned and reactive work.
• Clear communicator who builds positive relationships with staff, contractors and community.
• Proven experience in facilities/property management, building maintenance or a related trade.
• Strong knowledge of H&S compliance and BWOF/building services requirements.
• A team player with high standards of workmanship, reliability and initiative.

• Hours negotiable for the right applicant. Some flexibility required for call-outs, events and property projects.
• Start date as soon as possible or by mutual agreement.
• Police vetting will be required in line with school policy.
• To be considered for this role, you must have the legal right to work in New Zealand and the experience necessary for this position.
