Maintenance Technician

This leading SOE has an outstanding reputation for keeping Aotearoa moving, from the top of the North Island to the bottom of the South. We are now looking for a Maintenance Technician on their behalf, to join their Processing and Automation Engineering Services Team.

In this role, you’ll service and maintain high-speed sorting machines at the key Wellington site, ensuring availability meets operational needs and drive continuous performance improvements.

The role will see you being supported by the Lead Technician and Regional Technical Manager, and with appropriate mentoring, typically you will be able to:

  • Complete scheduled and reactive maintenance on high-speed automated sorting equipment to meet operational targets
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical faults in a timely, cost-effective manner
  • Manage spare-parts inventory, including ordering, receipting and stock-takes to maintain agreed levels
  • Liaise with the Regional Technical Manager on significant faults to ensure swift resolution
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to enhance machine performance and reliability

As a Maintenance Technician, you will need to have:

  • EWRB registration as a Service Technician or EST A/B qualifications (or a formal mechanical qualification)
  • At least three years’ diagnostic and fault-finding experience on live industrial production machinery
  • A basic level of mechanical and electrical aptitude, including the ability to read control, electrical and mechanical drawings
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong written and verbal English communication skills

Desirable skills include: pneumatic and hydraulic experience, reliability-centered maintenance, and familiarity with CMMS platforms (e.g., SAP, Maximo) or SCADA systems.

Salary $80K – $90K + benefits + outstanding career development opportunities.
