Qualified Carpenter - Queenstown

We can offer a period of initial training, long term work with a minimum of 40hrs/week and a competitive wage/contract hourly rate based on your experience. We are happy to consider either an employee or a contracting arrangement.
What you will be doing:- Interpret drawings/sketches in order to grasp requirements.
- Take measurements, calculate the size and amount of materials, then cut and shape materials accordingly.
- Identify and solve build related problems and challenges that may arise during the project.
- Build carpentry elements (eg. frames, doors, windows, etc) using raw materials or pre-constructed items.
- Assemble and install joinery items.
- Accurately layout carpentry elements.
- Follow all health and safety requirements.
- Other tasks as directed.
- Extensive previous experience working in residential building and the ability to deliver high quality work.
- Good knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team.
- Understanding of basic math.
- Confidence in using manual and power tools.
- Well developed problem solving skills.
- Effective verbal and listening communication skills and the ability to work independently.
- Honest, punctual, reliable.
- Hardworking.
- Good listening skills.
- Positive attitude.
- Physical strength and endurance.
- The ability to deal with the public and clients in a courteous and respectful manner.
In a nutshell, we're looking for an experienced carpenter who has the confidence in their ability to work independently and solve problems as they arise without having their hand held. And good buggers are always a bonus for us!
