International Homestay Manager - Part time
Workload fluctuates throughout the year and is very busy during peak intake periods (December, January, February, July, August, and September), with significantly fewer hours outside these times. Hours are worked as needed, and on rare occasions, it may include evening and weekend responsibilities.
An immediate start is possible.
The International Homestay Manager is responsible for ensuring a safe, welcoming, and well-managed homestay experience for international students. The role involves recruiting, training, and supporting homestay families, coordinating student placements, monitoring accommodation standards, and ensuring full compliance with the Education (Pastoral Care of International Students) Code of Practice 2016.
You will work closely with the Principal, International Director, and International administrators, and be a key point of contact for students, families, and caregivers.
Key Responsibilities
Homestay Recruitment & Support- Recruit, assess, interview, and train homestay families
- Conduct home inspections and suitability assessments
- Ensure all required documentation, agreements, and safety checks are completed
- Provide ongoing guidance, coaching, and support to host families
- Maintain accurate records and homestay profiles (including photos)
- Match students with suitable homestay families
- Coordinate pre-arrival communication between students and hosts
- Arrange airport pickups and ensure warm student arrivals
- Provide homestay orientation for students
- Conduct regular homestay visits and student welfare checks
- Complete visit and incident reports promptly
- Carry and respond to the 24/7 emergency phone when required
- Ensure all accommodation arrangements meet Code of Practice requirements
- Monitor and report on homestay compliance and student wellbeing
- Contribute to the school’s annual international programme self-review
- Implement improvements related to accommodation and pastoral care
- Maintain professional, culturally sensitive communication at all times
- Liaise effectively with students, caregivers, parents, agents, and school staff
- Ensure student well-being remains the highest priority in all decisions
- Has strong organisational and time-management skills
- Is culturally aware, empathetic, and student-focused
- Is comfortable working independently and responding to urgent situations
- Has excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Can work flexible and irregular hours, including evenings and weekends
- Is confident meeting with families in their homes
- Has a current driver’s licence and access to reliable transport
Experience in international education, homestay coordination, youth work, education, or pastoral care is highly desirable.
