Early Childhood Teacher

placeNew Plymouth calendar_month
We are a well-established not-for-profit, board led, community based early learning centre. We are well known in the Bell Block Community. We are licensed for up to forty children and we teach in a mixed aged group setting, zero to six. As a teaching team we value children’s agency, child led play and respectfully following their natural rhythms.

We recognise that children learn through trial and error, and we encourage exploration and creativity so that children can develop and refine their working theories of their world. We value continuous professional development so that we have a teaching team that is focused and skilled to support children in all areas of the curriculum and with their social and emotional needs.

We are seeking:
  • A dedicated and engaging kaiako.
  • Qualified and certificated. Provisionally certificated teachers are welcome to apply.
  • Able to work 35 – 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday between the hours of 7.15am and 5.30pm.
  • Positive attitude and a warm, caring disposition with the ability to form positive professional relationships with tamariki and whanau.
  • Passionate about developing local curriculum that reflects our community of learners and what is important to them.
  • Motivated to grow skills in leadership, planning and assessment and Te Ao Maori.
  • Must have the right to work in New Zealand.
We offer:
  • Extended pay parity
  • A contribution towards teacher certification fees
  • Three hours per week non-contact time
  • Above minimum adult to child ratios
  • Regular ongoing mentoring and professional development
  • A supportive and skilled team environment
  • Access to Vitae services
  • A three-week close down period over Christmas and New Year
  • Yearly flu jab costs covered

We would love to hear from you. Please feel free to call in for a look at our centre and a chat. Contact Jennifer on 06 755 2519 for more information and an application pack with a full job description.
