Clinical Coach - Supported First Year of Practice

Location: Hutt Hospital -this role work across the district and is based at Hutt Valley.

Contract: Fixed- term role to cover parental leave, Part Time 0.8 FTE - Monday to Thursday business hours.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities
  • Work alongside graduates across diverse settings, including hospital and specialist services, primary health and aged residential care.
  • Build strong networks with clinically based nurses, preceptors, educators, and senior nurses in graduates' clinical areas.
  • Maintain visibility in the clinical environment by working alongside graduates in direct care delivery and role-modelling effective team nursing approaches.
  • Use clinical teaching and coaching skills to support graduates' clinical decision-making and safe practice development.
  • Ensure graduates receive the assistance and support needed to maintain safe practice throughout their first year.
  • Enable graduates to apply learning effectively to support their Competent PDRP portfolio development.
  • Contribute to SFYP orientation and fulfil core requirements in collaboration with SFYP Coordinator roles.
  • Role-model professional, educational, and expert preceptorship behaviours to support graduate success.

About the Team/Service Location

Are you looking for a second opportunity and passionate about supporting graduate nurses in their first year of practice? We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Clinical Coach to join our Supported First Year of Practice (SFYP) team. This pivotal role work closely with the Nurse Coordinator SFYP and Nurse Coordinator SFYP and Cultural Support roles, contributing to graduates' clinical education and practice development.

You will provide evidence-informed nursing care, be an active member of the workforce and practice development team supporting graduates.

About you

Skills Experience:

  • Registration with the NCNZ as a Registered Nurse
  • A current practising certificate
  • Current Proficient or Expert on PDRP
  • Preceptor
  • IV Trainer
  • Experience in supporting graduates in clinical practice
