This position offers full - time, rostered shifts.
Responsibilities:To provide a Personal Care Service to Service Users, to enable them to lead as independent a lifestyle as possible. This will involve a programme of personal care and household management that is personalized for each Service User in the form of a Care Plan.
Care duties will include assisting the Service User with the following activities and in so doing the caregiver will at all times observe and respect the Service User's dignity, privacy, freedom of choice and independence as far as practical.
You will need to be able to/tasks involved:
- To maintain awareness of the Service User's personal needs
- Dressing and undressing/preparing the Service User for day care or trips out.
- Washing/bathing/showering/shaving/grooming/cleaning teeth.
- Hair care (washing/brushing)
- Nail care of fingernails, not including trimming
- Toileting and all aspects of personal hygiene.
- Continence management
- Care of pressure areas (turning only, under appropriate nursing supervision).
- Getting in and out of bed.
- Assisting with the use of Aids of Daily Living/Rehabilitation Aids. as required.
- Helping with rehabilitation programmes, as prescribed by Healthcare professionals.
- Day/evening/night sitting services, as required.
- Prompting and assisting the service user to take prescribed medication from a dossett box or blister pack only.
- Preparation of snacks and meals according to the service user's likes/dislikes.
- Assisting with feeding, as required.
- General cleaning duties, to include cleaning/vacuuming/dusting
- Shopping/Handling of money for shopping within policy and care guidelines
- Domestic and household services
- Encouragement to maintain independence
- Ensuring any problems or concerns are referred on appropriately.
- To establish and maintain a good working relationship with the service user and their family/whanau.
- To use initiative and act in emergencies when required which may include liaison with other services as appropriate.
We are looking for people who have:
- A genuine passion for empowering clients to live fulfilling and independent live
- Have a minimum of 3 months experience in homecare/healthcare
- A Health and Wellbeing Qualification (Level 3or Level4 NZQA or equivalent) or the willingness to work towards achieving this qualification.
- Strong communication skills with an excellent command of the English language.
- A valid driver's license
- Culturally aware and willing to work rostered shifts
- Self-motivated, organized, caring, reliable and punctual
- An active team player and sensitive to the needs of others
- A good communicator
