This senior nursing role offers the opportunity to lead, influence, and support safe staffing initiatives that have a direct impact on quality care for patients, whānau, and our nursing workforce.Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in Te Tiriti o Waitangi and committed to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders.About the RoleAs Nurse Coordinator Safe Staffing, you will provide clinical, operational, and professional leadership to ensure the effective implementation and ongoing delivery of safe staffing initiatives across Te Whatu Ora Taranaki.
This includes leadership of Care Capacity Demand Management (CCDM), TrendCare, variance response processes, and other tools that enable safe, sustainable nursing services.In this role you will:Lead and coordinate safe staffing programme activities across designated hospital services.Strengthen staff capability in CCDM, patient acuity systems, and data-driven workforce planning.Provide expert advice, analysis, and reporting to support CCDM Governance and organisational decision making.Work in partnership with unions, the SSHW Unit, Nurse Managers, Midwife Managers and wider operational teams.Champion the visibility, transparency, and cultural safety of safe staffing practices across the organisation.This is a key system-level leadership role, ideal for an experienced nurse with strong analytical, relational, and organisational capability who enjoys working collaboratively across multiple teams.The salary range for this position is as per Grade 2 of the NZNO Nursing & Midwifery MECA.Please click here to view the position description.About the Team / Service / LocationThe Safe Staffing Team works across the organisation to strengthen workforce planning, acuity assessment, and the systems that support safe care delivery.
