Checkout Supervisor - Invercargill

Location: Te Anau, Southland
Type: Full-time/Permanent
Pay Range: $26 to $28 per hour
Days: Monday to Sunday roster (5 shifts per week, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays)
Hours: Guaranteed at least 30 hours per week with standard hours of 40 hours per week.

With a strong focus on community, customer satisfaction, and team culture, they are now seeking a dedicated Checkout Supervisor to help lead their front-of-store operations.
Key Responsibilities: Lead the checkout team to deliver smooth, efficient, and friendly service.As Checkout Supervisor, your role will be to plan, organise, lead and control all aspects of the checkout area to ensure excellent service and efficient operations. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Customer service management: Ensure systems and processes support a high level of customer satisfaction
- Staff supervision: Motivate and support checkout staff, encourage team engagement, and foster a cooperative environment
- Training and development: Continually coach staff to deliver top-tier service and ensure they understand policies and procedures
- Cash handling: Oversee preparation and control of all monies, including tills and floats
- Operations: Ensure all checkouts are clean, tidy, and fully functional; and store policies are followed
- Problem resolution: Be the first point of contact for customer complaints and issues
- Health & safety: Ensure all team members comply with Health and Safety and Food Safety requirements
- Support tasks: Assist with weekly specials, pricing accuracy, and other duties delegated by the Assistant Manager
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- At least 1 year of relevant retail or supervisory experience
- Strong leadership and interpersonal communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving ability and a customer-first mindset
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
- Must have a clean police report with no charges pending
