Advisor/Senior Advisor, Infrastructure ResilienceType: Secondment 3.5 months - starting 15th JuneLocation: WellingtonApplications Close: 5pm Monday 25th May 2026Please APPLY using this LINK, not directly on Government Jobs.Provide extended leave cover for a small, agile external-facing team that coordinates efforts to increase resilience in the lifelines sectors.Make some project deliverables your own while gaining new experiences in emergency management.Role adaptable to a range of professional backgrounds (e.g. GIS, project or relationship management, emergency management, advisory or policy)The Infrastructure Resilience Team is part of the Planning and Sector Partnerships Unit which is responsible for developing and maintaining New Zealand's national emergency management planning framework and partnering with a wide range of stakeholders to build resilience across the 4R's of risk reduction, readiness, response and recovery in support of communities.The Senior Advisor, Infrastructure Resilience is responsible for:Developing and maintaining strategic national CDEM planning framework doctrine and guidance for lifeline utilities/critical infrastructure stakeholders.Supporting delivery of the lifeline utilities/critical infrastructure work programme with a strong focus on advocating for risk reduction, readiness, response and recovery practices in the infrastructure sector.Managing relationships with several Sector Coordinating Entities and associated stakeholders, such as, large companies and regulators.Working on the Lifelines function when the National Crisis Management Centre (NCMC) is activated.Essential skills and Experience RequiredA tertiary qualification in emergency management or related discipline OR an equivalent body of knowledge and experience.Experience in developing and implementing operational plansKnowledge, understanding and ability to interpret, develop and apply national policiesExperience in the development of strategic frameworks, national guidance and adviceExcellent communication skills, with an ability to review Cabinet papers, present/brief to various audiences, write useful guidance/advice and explain complex topics clearly.Please discuss this opportunity with your manager before applying.
