Our Maramarua Mine is an opencast mine which produces a low-ash, low sulphur thermal coal for the domestic market. It is located in the Waikato region 20km south of the Bombay’s (Auckland) or 50km from Thames (Coromandel) – you get to choose if you want the city life or the coast life.

The Role:

We are looking for an experienced Health and Safety practitioner at an Advisor or Senior Advisor level to join our team as a Mine Site Health, Safety & Compliance Coordinator.

Reporting to the Health, Safety, Training & Compliance Superintendent, you will play a key role in the day-to-day delivery of health and safety across site. This is a hands-on, operational role focused on supporting frontline teams, ensuring compliance with site procedures, and maintaining our Health and Safety Management System.

You will be actively involved in incident management, including leading and supporting ICAM investigations, conducting audits and inspections, and ensuring corrective actions are implemented and closed out effectively. A strong working knowledge of H&S systems and compliance requirements is essential, along with the ability to ensure standards and policies are consistently applied in practice.

This role requires a balance of field and office-based work. You will regularly engage with crews in the pit, supervisors, contractors, and suppliers to ensure expectations are clearly communicated and delivered. You will also be responsible for reporting, documentation, and providing practical insights to support ongoing site safety performance.

We are looking for someone who is pragmatic, visible on site, and confident working in a mining or similarly high-risk environment. You will also be competent operating manual 4WD vehicles in off-road conditions.

Skills & Experience:

• Experience as a Health & Safety Advisor / Senior Advisor
• Background in mining, extractives, construction, or heavy industry
• Strong ICAM investigation and incident management experience
• Proven ability with audits, inspections, and compliance systems
• Experience working with contractors and frontline teams
• Strong communication and report writing skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• Full NZ Driver Licence (manual driving capability required)
