Hourly Rate: $30.00-$35.00 per hour
Position Overview: Thirsty Liquor Te Aroha is seeking an experienced Store Manager to take full responsibility for the operational, financial, and staffing performance of the retail store.
The Store Manager will plan, organise, direct, and control all aspects of the business to ensure commercial profitability, regulatory compliance, and high standards of customer service.
This is a senior retail management position with responsibility for store-level decision-making and performance outcomes.
Key Duties and Responsibilities- Plan, organise, direct, and control the daily operations of the retail store
- Recruit, train, supervise, roster, and manage staff performance
- Monitor sales performance, implement promotional strategies, and achieve business targets
- Determine product mix, manage purchasing, pricing, stock levels, and inventory control
- Analyse sales data and adjust pricing or promotional strategies accordingly
- Ensure compliance with liquor licensing legislation, host responsibility obligations, and workplace health and safety regulations
- Maintain financial and operational records including sales reconciliation and reporting
- Oversee store presentation, merchandising, and security procedures
- Liaise with suppliers and company management regarding operational and commercial matters
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in retail management or a similar supervisory role OR a qualification at NZQF Level 4 or higher.
- Manager’s licence for sale and supply of alcohol preferred or be able to obtain one
- Strong organisational, leadership, and staff management skills
- Knowledge of retail operations, stock control, and customer service practices
- Understanding of compliance obligations relevant to liquor retailing
- Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills
- Able to work on weekends, public holidays, and nights as per store operating hours
