Engineer – Aluminium Die & Sand Casting - East Tamaki based
Experienced Engineer wanted for aluminium die & sand casting plant. Lead maintenance, safety & production in a hands-on role.
About the Role:We’re seeking a skilled Engineer to join our East Tamaki manufacturing operations. This role is critical in maintaining our aluminium die and sand casting equipment, ensuring plant reliability, and supporting product design and production. You’ll also act as Health & Safety Officer for the site.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage and maintain all die casting and foundry equipment
- Perform plant repairs, installations, and commissioning
- Support product design team and oversee pattern/die modifications
- Supervise and train production and maintenance staff
- Act as Health & Safety Officer, including inductions and compliance
- Manage sub-contractors (die makers, pattern makers, outsourced work)
- Ensure stock and material levels meet production needs
- Maintain ISO 9001 QMS and product certifications
- Authority to act as Production Manager in their absence
- 5–10 years’ experience commissioning and installing plant & machinery
- Strong background supervising maintenance staff
- Preferably, experience with aluminium die and sand casting equipment
- Completion of a recognised engineering apprenticeship (plant maintenance focus)
- Forward planning, time management, and leadership skills
- Strong record keeping and safety compliance abilities
- Leadership role with hands-on engineering responsibilities
- Variety across maintenance, design, production, and compliance
