Saikou is a Japanese-inspired Asian Fusion restaurant located in Timaru, Serving exceptional

food, drinks and service. We are seeking a committed Sous Chef to join our team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

The Role: As a Sous Chef in our establishment, you will assist the Head Chef in the daily operations of the

kitchen, including preparation, service, and cleanliness. You will oversee the organisation and
functioning of the kitchen under the Head Chef's guidance. This role offers a competitive salary

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsibility for the operation and organisation of the kitchen under the Head Chef.
  • Assist the Head Chef as required
  • Ensure that the relationship between kitchen and front-of-house staff is maintained at a high
standard.
  • Maintain a high standard in the kitchen.
  • Follow recipes and instructions meticulously.
  • Ensure every task is completed to meet the required standards.

Technical Requirements:
  • A New Zealand Certificate in Cookery is preferred; however, equivalent experience of two years
or more in a commercial kitchen is acceptable.
  • Experience with Asian fusion and/or Japanese cooking is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment.
