Estates Legal Assistant

We are seeking a capable and compassionate Estates Legal Assistant to join a Kapiti-based firm. Reporting to the Supervising Director, CEO, and Estates Legal Executives, this role provides high-quality administrative, secretarial, and Legal Executive support to clients, legal advisors, and management.

You will assist with the administration of deceased estates from initial instruction through to closure, including preparing Probate and Letters of Administration, identifying estate assets and liabilities, and maintaining accurate, confidential records.

As a key point of contact for families, beneficiaries, and stakeholders, you’ll communicate with empathy, professionalism, and clarity.

The role also includes comprehensive administrative support: preparing correspondence and legal documents, opening and maintaining client files, and ensuring records are organised and up to date.

YOU WILL NEED TO HAVE:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including good grammar and spelling and the ability to create clear and professional emails and documents.
  • Proven experience with MSOffice, particularly MSWord with a good understanding of document formatting.
  • Compassion and kindness for the people you will be dealing with
  • A legal background particularly in estates would definitely be an advantage.
