Friendly housekeeper and cook for one

placeNew Plymouth calendar_month

I am a 43-year-old female who enjoys listening to music, reading, watching good TV series and cuddles with my dog. I previously enjoyed doing many, many more things, but I now have a chronic illness which severely limits what I can do.

I live alone, so I need someone to do most of the household tasks - i.e. cooking, supermarket shopping, laundry, cleaning, tidying and some household admin etc. I can manage a few things myself, and I do get some help from my parents who live next door, but I am looking for someone who can take ownership of running most of the household.

I am also looking for someone who is kind, empathetic, and who I get on with, because we’ll obviously be spending a lot of time together. I am a bit of a perfectionist, so someone who pays attention to detail would also be a bonus!

The position is for 30 hours a week with an hourly rate of $30. The usual hours of work will be Monday to Friday from 9am to 3pm, although this can be a bit flexible if for example you have kids to drop off and pick up. You will also need to be available for some occasional weekend work when my parents are away.

We can agree on these weekend dates together in advance. You will also of course get hours off during the week to make up for the extra weekend hours worked.

I am looking for someone to start around the beginning of March. This is a fixed-term position, ending at the end of August, although there is the possibility of ongoing work subject to my funding being approved. However, it is likely to be for fewer hours – around 15 hours a week.

You will need to have a full driver’s license so you can go supermarket shopping and maybe to take me to some appointments and run some errands if there is time. I have a car which you can use.

If this all sounds like you, please write a cover letter telling me a bit about yourself, why you think you would be a good match for this position and any relevant experience you have (which could include running your own household). Please also attach a CV and provide two references (one can be a character reference).

If you are the selected candidate, I will also need to be able to contact the referees. Feel free to get in touch if you have any questions.
