RESPONSIBLE FOR: Bar/wait staff, chefs, kitchen assistants, cleaners
EMPLOYMENT: Permanent/full-time
HOURS OF WORK: 30 to 40 hours per week – must be willing to work on weekends and public holidays

POSTION DESCRIPTION: To affect the overall smooth and efficient operations of the business, with the primary focus of fostering an on-going positive working relationship with the customer base. Maximise sales volumes and profitability
LOCATION: NelsonEMPLOYMENT: Permanent/full-time

REMUNERATION: between $30.00 - $35.00+ per hour
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Comply with the Sale of Liquor Act 1989 and amendments, Smoke Free Environments Amendment Act 2003 and the Gambling Act 2003
- Comply with the terms and conditions of the premises liquor and gaming licence/s
- Ensure all staff are aware of their obligations pursuant to the Sale of Liquor Act 1989 and the company’s liquor licence is not jeopardised—this includes patron conduct and intoxication
- Comply with Bar/Wait staff Job description duties & responsibilities, as well as the Duty manager duties & responsibilities
- Support upper management in the daily running of the business
- Ensure customers receive quality product and excellent customer service and the venue and product are displayed to a high standard
- Manage all customer complaints responding promptly and follow the customer complaints procedure
- Effectively communicate relevant information from senior management (stated above in “report to”) to all staff and ensure communication systems & procedures are fully complied with at all times
- Organise the staff roster and ensure adequate staff levels, assign staff duties and supervise all staff on duty
- Ensure cost effective staff levels are on duty and maintain wage cost budgets
- Interview job applicants, hire, train and evaluate.
- Continually assess staff performance/ training levels and manage all aspects of staff performance, resolve any staff issues and undertake performance reviews and/or disciplinary meeting
- Ensure that the operations and systems manual and house rules are adhered to at all times
- Support the Bar Operations Manager in the control of stock & other related tasks including taking inventory and ordering stock as and when required through the approved supply chain
- Ensure the bar area and behind the bar are kept clean and tidy at all times and in accordance to specified standards. Ensure all equipment is kept clean and tidy and in good working condition
- Update daily records/ cleaning and task lists
- Ensure the premises is a safe environment for all patrons and staff, and complies with OSH requirements at all times
- Ensure staff are briefed on promotional matters
- Ensure all funds and proceeds belonging to the business are accounted for, secured, and locked in the safe before leaving the premises, ensuring staff follow all sales procedures
- Complete management diary log at close of shift, and brief incoming manager at handover
- Ensure the security alarm is activated and functioning before leaving the premises and that premises are safe and secure, including turning off all equipment
- Maintain and complete the premises incident record book and record any health and safety issues
- Participate as a constructive member of the management team with the view to maximising business sales volumes and profitability
- Complete other general duties as the Manager may require from time to time
- NZ Register Level 2 Diploma or at least three years of relevant experience
- Liquor controller’s qualification (LCQ) or current General Managers Certificate in accordance with the Sale of Liquor act 1989
- All relevant health & safety, fire & first aid certificates
